Avrenim FM were appointed by The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust to undertake the complete refurbishment of the first floor Linda McCartney building within the Royal Liverpool Hospital.

The project entailed the complete strip out and removal of disused furniture and all the internal building fabric and M&E. The demolition and strip out of the area involved the removal of the existing recessed lighting systems, floor coverings, fixtures and fittings and M&E strip out, with careful separation of waste and recycling and re-use in some instances

The complete internal refurbishment to the four consolation rooms and office included the installation of new skirting boards, new vinyl flooring, general decoration, plastering, painting and joinery.

Electrical works entailed enabling works, removal of existing services, re-configuring of the structured cabling, installation of office and emergency lighting, additional electrical power outlets, fire detection and testing and commissioning.

Mechanical works included removal and replacement of the domestic water services, installation of three wash-hand basins and testing and commissioning.

Due to the sensitive nature of the works and the live environment there was close liaison between Avrenim FM, the Estates Project team and the Clatterbridge Clinical team. Daily interface was required in regard to health and safety i.e. dust prevention, privacy, security, assessment of any risk or hazards and timing of activities, establishing when hazardous or disruptive works could take place.

The successful delivery of the project was due to a collaborate team ethos across all stakeholders, including the supply chain.  It was essential to hold weekly meetings and daily communications for the programming of works and working around daily activities of the area.

“Just to pass on a big “thankyou” on behalf of Clatterbridge to you and your team.  By all parties working collaboratively we have successfully opened our new clinic rooms on the 1st floor at LMC this morning. Thank you to all involved.”
