Covid 19 Assessment Cabins

In January 2020 Avrenim were tasked by the Trust to carry out a complete refurbishment of the old PFI Cabins to transform them into an assessment centre for Covid-19.

The project involved a complete overhaul of the existing office setup and a new ‘Covid friendly’ assessment hub was created.

We had to ensure patient and staff safety and comfort was the top priority due to the nature of the project. Avrenim had to work very closely with senior members of the Trust to ensure we were working to all Government & infection control guidelines.

Alongside this we had an extremely tight timescale of 14 days to get the project completed and signed off by the Trust.

The main body of works consisted of setting out the assessment rooms with hospital grade cladding patrician walls, new vinyl flooring, 2 x clinical wash hand basins, access control swipe access, 8 x vent axia extract ventilation with government guidelines towards safe extraction and full decoration

This project faced many challenges due to the large number of specialist contractors that worked extremely well given the 14-day project time frame.

Strategic planning was a constant throughout as the specification and requirements of the Trust changed. Progress meetings with the Trust were daily due to the extremely high priority of the project.
