We were appointed by Vinci Facilities to extend the ambulance triage at Whiston Hospital.
The project involved the redevelopment of two consultant rooms into four resuscitation bays whilst all the time keeping the five original resuscitation bays fully operational including all medical gasses.
In addition to the structural element of the project careful consideration was made to ensure patient and staff safety and comfort. Due to the works having to be carried out in a live environment, work had to take place at weekends and nights to ensure minimal disturbances and to keep in line with infection control.
Avrenim had to work very closely with Vinci Facilities to ensure all shutdowns on mechanical and electrical services had minimal disturbances for the hospital. This included redirecting a main drain for the critical care and high dependency wards five floors above the area we had been working in.
The main body of works consisted of Electrics/ventilation/heating/medical gasses/drainage/hot and cold services/flooring/ceilings/fire alarms/nurse call and full redecoration.
This project has faced many challenges due to the onset of the Coronavirus. Strategic planning has been required throughout and has required a high volume of design and progress meetings in order to meet both the Trust and Avrenim’s objectives.
