Avrenim Developments were appointed by Liverpool University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to undertake the refurbishment of multiple floors at the Educations Centre and Linda McCartney building.

The project entailed the complete demolition, strip out and removal of all the internal fabric and M&E services to provide Comfortable, student teaching and learning spaces including patient- centred spaces, new clinic rooms, lecture rooms and chemotherapy outpatient units.

The services provided within the Education Centre and Linda McCartney building enables students and the general public from all over the North West travel to the Centre to receive some of the most advanced and innovative treatments available in the UK as well as an exceptional learning experience.

Due to the sensitive nature of the works and the live environment there was close liaison between the project team including, Avrenim Developments, the Estates Department, Liverpool University and the Clatterbridge Clinical team. Daily interface and co-ordination was required regarding, progress, health and safety i.e., dust prevention, privacy, security, assessment of any risk or hazards and timing of activities, establishing when hazardous or disruptive works could take place.

The successful delivery of the project was due to a collaborate team ethos across all stakeholders, including the supply chain. It was essential to hold weekly meetings and daily communications for the programming of works and working around daily activities of the area.

Challenge

The challenge was to create a comfortable facility for patience and staff whilst maintaining a safe clinical environment

Consistent implementation of health and safety procedures and a collaborative approach with our client throughout duration of the project

Results

Aesthetically pleasing environment for stakeholders and the public
and was successfully completed within a fast-track programme.
