Low carbon/renewables

We take a holistic approach with regards to the integration of low carbon and renewable technologies for building services.

Some of the technologies that we are competent to include within our design are:-

  • Electric Vehicle Charging
  • Wind

The key for successful integration of low carbon and renewable technologies is to ensure that correct sizing of equipment occurs by energy usage modelling.

M&E

We are competent in understanding complex mechanical and electrical building services installations and are able to tailor the retrofitting and integration of renewables and low carbon technologies into these legacy building services and M&E systems. Examples are:-

  • Replacing gas fire boilers and CHP with heat pumps
  • Reducing grid electricity consumption through integration of solar PV and modernisation of lighting systems and introducing further energy conservation measures.
  • Thermal and battery storage to optimise the size of low carbon and renewable technology.
  • Gas Safe Systems

It is a framework for all disciplines on construction projects and should be used solely as guidance for the preparation of detailed professional services and building contracts.

Jan Hazelkamp

HEAD OF ENGINEERING AND DESIGN

Jan has enjoyed a varied career across education, health, property and engineering sectors for over 24 years, working for contractors and consultants in the Netherlands, Australia and the UK.

Jan is responsible for the overall Engineering and Design for the Avrenim Group.  His team offers design and consultancy services to the low carbon energy sector.

Jan is a customer focused and operationally driven mechanical design engineer and leader with a wealth of experience in the Low Carbon Energy Generation sector, including Steam, HVAC and M&E refurbishment of listed buildings.  He has a track record of designing and delivering engineering solutions to stakeholder satisfaction.

Matt Biggs

HEAD OF RENEWABLES

Matt is responsible for Renewable Energy solutions as Head of Renewables and started his career as an Electrical Engineer and since 2010 has been heavily involved in the Renewables sector, gaining extensive knowledge and experience with Electrical and Heating Engineering, Embedded Generation, Heat Pumps and Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment.

Matt has achieved success in the design, installation, handover, technical support and operations and maintenance on a variety of projects focused on providing clients with industry leading products and best in class solutions to the highest standards.
