Project Overview

Serving over 2,500 students, Xaverian College in Manchester has a beautiful campus; a blend of historic and modern architecture, with several listed buildings that reflect its long-standing heritage. The college is renowned for its strong academic programs and a deep commitment to sustainability.

The College was actively seeking partners to support their sustainability goals and help reduce energy costs. They commissioned Avrenim to design, supply, and install a solar PV system that would take them a significant step forward in their journey toward greater environmental responsibility as well as engage students, staff and visitors in their impact on the local environments and how they were helping Greater Manchester achieve its Net-Zero commitments by 2038.

How we helped

Avrenim designed, supplied and installed a solar PV system comprising 263 high quality panels capable of producing 143KWp energy. While sounding simple, given the proximity to Manchester Airport, and the listed buildings within and adjacent to the campus, Avrenim managed the project end-to-end including heritage inpact assessments, aviation glint & glare studies and planning applications through to the installation delivery around a bustling college campus.

Avrenim also commissioned screens across the campus to share key information from the system to staff, students and visitors. The system was handed over in August 2024 and is helping the college deliver significant carbon reduction and energy savings.
